They bought a two-person kayak. Paul could paddle. Mary could direct.
All signs pointed to an auspicious new beginning.
They loved the second-story level deck and the feeling they were living in a treehouse!
While Paul and Mary are a vintage '70's couple, the house was in serious need of a makeover.
Paul got busy with tools, contractors, family, and friends.
Mary kept him company on the "treehouse" deck.
Oldest son, Danny, was part of the de-construction crew. Just the guy to haul big old stones out to the dumpster and sweep up debris.
Most of the remodeling is done or at least "envisioned" at this point. The lot has been re-landscaped, returning it to an even more wooded look. And we've had time for family and friends - old and new.
Chris is finishing his MBA at Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago - and learned to keep his ears warm. He's got a job lined up after graduation with McKinsey Consulting in San Francisco.
We all enjoyed some family time on the newly rebuilt deck this summer.
Granddaughter, Alex, graduated from high school in June.
Grandson, Skyler, is stationed in Florida, engaged to darling Oriana, and will be spending Christmas and his 23rd birthday on deployment to Afghanistan. We miss him and pray for his safe return in late April/early March.
Cleo's favorite part of the remodel is the nice warm stove!
Paul can put his feet up and relax with the neighbor's dog... at least until Mary thinks of the next BIG PROJECT.
We all wish you and yours love and peace in the coming year!
Seriously... all of us. XOXOX.
